2019-05-10 - Sydney Swans vs Essendon
A Sports Betting Pick by Shady
AFL AUSSIE RULES : Round 8
Venue : SCG

Overview :
Sydney Swans are rock bottom in the ladder, winning just once in their opening 7 games. That sole win came against Carlton back in round 3.
Essendon on the other hand have are having a start stop season, managing 3 wins in their opening 7 games. After starting off the season with 2 poor performance, they bounce back winning 3 on the bounce with some delightful performance but have since drop back to back games against Collingwood and Geelong.
John Worsfold have opted to give Joe Daniher some rest as I believe Essendon will look to exploit Sydney Swan’s lack of pace around the ground. Daniher big target to aim for but I believe the focus will be for the Bombers to hit Swans on the break and play on as often as they could instead of hitting up the target man.
John Longmire will still be without Buddy Franklin for this game. The Swans have struggle to score this season with or without Franklin. The Swans just do not have natural goal scorer that can consistently kick 2+ goals a game throughout the season besides Franklin.
Moreover, the effects of over relying in Buddy Franklin for the past few seasons are starting to show on this Swans team. Buddy has spearheaded the Swans forward line for the past 5 seasons or so and with Buddy now no longer in his prime plus Swans inability to attract an elite caliber player, in particular up front is starting, the Swans could very well finish in the bottom 3 of the ladder, if they are “lucky” they might even finish dead last and pick up the top draft pick this season.
Essendon on the other hand have shown us this season that they have some ability to make some noise and finish inside the top 8. They have a better percentage than the few teams above them and now is about time they challenge themselves and see if they will play finals football. If they can hammer the Swans at the SGC, I believe they will be there.
The Bombers have a good team, with plenty of talent all over the ground. If John Worsfold’s men are not up for the this relatively easy challenge against one of the worse performing side in the league this season, I do not think they will make the finals and Worsfold’s leadership will be questioned.
Shady's Verdict:
The Swans have always had a solid midfield in recent seasons, and this was an edge they had against most opponents. However, the addition of Dylan Shiel this season alongside Zaharakis, Heppell and emerging young telent Merrett and McGrath have made Essendon one of the best midfield side in the game.
Essendon have dropped the last two games and I expect them to be hungry. The ball movement and ability of the Bombers small forward such as Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti, Jake Stringer, Devon Smith and Orazio Fantasia will just have much speed and movement for an aging Swans team.
I expect Essendon to burnt out the Swans over and over again with their run and carry. Essendon to win the game and I expect them to win by 4 goals+, could even get ugly(40++) if Essendon are completely focused throughout the game.
