Toulouse finally brought a halt to a previously worrying six-match winless streak in the French top flight last weekend when Carles Martínez’s side registered a welcome and much-needed three-point haul by way of a 4-3 win away from home at Metz.
Toulouse had previously slumped to four defeats and two draws beforehand, suffering losses at the hands of Angers, Le Havre, Rennes and Marseille respectively, thus overshadowing the recent points picked up in draws with Auxerre and Paris FC.
This recent slump in form has resulted in Toulouse dropping down the Ligue 1 table to 11th place where they trail their 9th placed visitors by a three-point margin while a home record of 4-5-4 20/17 also indicates the hosts’ inconsistent nature this term.
Lorient meanwhile extended their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to five games last weekend with a solid 2-1 home win against high-flying Lens which will no doubt give Olivier Pantaloni’s side plenty of confidence when they make their way to Toulouse on Saturday afternoon.
An earlier 2-0 home win against Angers was followed by picking up useful points in draws with Nice, Auxerre and Lille respectively, and indeed, the possibility of another stalemate cannot be ruled out this Saturday either.
Lorient are the joint-highest draw specialists in Ligue 1 along with Paris FC having been involved in no fewer than 10 draws within a total of 26 league matches played to date this term and the draw has also featured on the road amongst an overall away record of 2-5-6 11/21.
