Football : Australia : A-League

Kick-off: 7pm (ACDT) 9:30 GMT
Venue: Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide
Form:
Past five matches:
Adelaide United : WLWLD
Home record - played 12 - 8 wins 1 draw 3 loss (22:13)
Newcastle Jets: LLWDW
Away record - played 13 - 3 wins 3 draws 7 losses (17:27)
Adelaide United (4th)
Adelaide’s recent form is inconsistent, but this is a game they think they have a real chance at grabbing all 3 points. They bounced back from a home defeat at the hands of Brisbane, to win on the road at the Melbourne Heart last week.
Bruce Djite is likely to come off the bench and get a run after an extended injury layoff. He will be all the better for some game time, but I would think his contribution to this game will only be psychological.
Osama Malik has ankle problems and won’t play but other than that coach Valkanis has a full squad to choose from. Captain Dario Vidosic will have the team fired up for this one, and expect a hard no nonsense approach to this game from Adelaide.
The Argentine Jeronimo Neumann is 2nd highest goal scorer for Adelaide with seven goals and every one of them has been at Hindmarsh Stadium.
Newcastle Jets (6th)
The Jets are probably still mystified on how they lost to Perth at home last week, and go into this game thinking they need to pick up points to avoid slipping down the table and out of semi-final contention. History is against them getting a win here, Newcastle are winless in their past four encounters at Hindmarsh Stadium.
There is some hope, Caravella ( ex Adelaide) returns to the Jets line-up from a hamstring injury after missing the past two matches, where Newcastle have been soundly beaten. But the bad news is marquee man Emile Heskey isn’t making the pitch as he is still sidelined with a tear in his calf.
Van Egmond's men will need to get something from this game, and if he goes for a more attacking formation, the best I see is they get a draw

The Betting Verdict
Adelaide boast a good home record, but the team has not yet recovered from the departure of coach Kosmina, and with former Adelaide defender Michael Valkanis taking over the reigns the emphasis appears to be on defence.
Recently the games between these two teams have been rather tame, 5 goals in their last 5 encounters for a win each and 3 draws sums it up.
The form book would point to a Draw but home town advantage, Bruce Djite’s return, and Heskey’s absence, are enough to convince me Adelaide to secure all three points.
