BOLTON
The Wanderers are in 11th place at the moment, having lost in excruciating fashion last Sunday. Bolton had kept the game with Liverpool goalless until Maxi Rodriguez conjured up a winner just minutes from the final whistle. They will now take on Tottenham Hotspur, who come into Bolton on a massive high after their exploits in mid week Champions League action.
Bolton have a very good record at home against Tottenham, and although it's not in the same league as the Old Trafford hoodoo, it's pretty good. In 11 league meetings, they've lost just once, while winning 6 times. Spurs have been busy with a hell of a game against Inter Milan, so are in prime position to get caught in let down mode. Bolton should be able to at least net once against the north Londoners, but can they hold on?
Only twice have Bolton lost this season, but even in the other matches, they have not managed a clean sheet. In fact, they have conceded at least a goal in their last 9 league matches. Tottenham can't ask for more than that having just terrorised the European champs.
TOTTENHAM
Quite a turnaround that was! Having found themselves a man down and 4-0 down at halftime 2 weeks ago in Milan, who on earth would have thought they would bang in 6 goals against the Europeans champions? Not me!
Spurs jumped out to a lead and never looked that troubled as they roared to a famous victory in the first season amongst the big boys. Van Der Vaart started the scoring before Crouch and Pavlyuchenko got in on the action, leading the team to the win, and suddenly it's like that trip to Old Trafford never even happened. And behind it all was Gareth Bale, the poor mans Cesc Fabregas.
Tottenham's answer to creationists was the heart and soul of this Spurs team, and it's great news that he will be making this trip up to Bolton, because Van Der Vaart is out injured. I can see him playing a big part in any goals the visitors score, and believe me, they will score.
BETTING VERDICT
Right, so Tottenham haven't won here more than once in their last 11 visits, and of all the Bolton players, I suspect Kevin Davies is looking forward to this the most, having scored against them the last 3 times he's faced them!
I like Bolton with the handicap, both teams to score and a little wager on Davies to net over the 90 minutes.
