Dundee Utd
I am prepared to ignore Dundee Utd's 5-1 heavy defeat at Celtic Park last week as after watching all the highlights it was a very flattering score line for Celtic (honestly). The Celtic goalie actually recieved man of the match so that tells its own story.
Hopefully the players will just forget that match and concentrate on picking up their first home victory of the season. Dundee United are normally very strong at home and infact it is only Celtic and Rangers that have managed to win at Tannadice in the whole of 2011 with the vast majority of results ending in a home win.
There is a bit of competition for places in the team with the return to fitness of tricky winger Danny Swanson but I expect Dundee Utd to start with an unchanged team from last week.
Possible Dundee Utd :
Pernis, Watson, Dillon, Kenneth, Dixon, Flood, Robertson, Allan, Rankin, Daly, Russell (4-4-2)
Dunfermline
Dunfermline fans will be very happy with the way their team has adapted back in the top flight, they remain unbeaten and have managed to amass a respectable 5pts from their opening 3 games back in the SPL.
Dunfermline are actually now unbeaten in their last 16 games if we include the end of the season they had in the division below. However, call me a cynic, but in my opinion they were handed a very favourable opening run of fixtures to start the season.
They have no fresh injury worries for this match and I expect them to stick to the 4-5-1 formation that came away from St Johnstone with a 1-0 away victory last week.
Possible Dunfermline lineup :
Gallagher, Thomson, Potter, Keddie, McCann, Cardle, Mason, Hardie, Burns, Dowie, Kirk (4-5-1)
THE BETTING VERDICT
For me Dundee Utd are a much better team than Dunfermline and I think this is where Dunfermline's run will come to an end.
I always believe there are goals in Russell and Daly upfront and if they can keep Andy Kirk for Dunfermline quiet I can see them winning to nil.
But for me the safe bet is just to take the straight home win.
