SC Freiburg has won four of its last six Bundesliga games, so the team is in good shape. However, they lost 3-1 to RB Leipzig last week, which calls for caution in this game against struggling Mainz.

SC Freiburg quickly got back to winning by beating Hamburger SV 2-1 in the DFB Cup last midweek, so they are awaiting Mainz in good spirits. Coach Julian Schuster will rotate one or two players from that game, but overall, not many changes in the formation are expected in this game.

SC Freiburg won three of their four Bundesliga games at home this season. They scored twice or more in each of those wins, so they tend to dominate in their home games.

Mainz

Mainz is one of the few inconsistent sides that show different displays from one week to another but mostly perform badly. They also dropped out of the DFB Cup after getting heavily beaten 0-4 by Bayern Munich last Wednesday.

Despite being one of the weakest Bundesliga teams overall, Mainz is surprisingly unbeaten at away stadiums this season. They played three matches, drawing against VfB Stuttgart and winning their last two away games against Augsburg and St.Pauli.

The Betting Verdict

SC Freiburg is unbeaten against Mainz in six consecutive matches, winning twice and drawing four. Five of their last six duels were low-scoring, ending with under 2.5 goals.

SC Freiburg is in better shape than Mainz, plus they are excellent when playing at home, even against bigger names.

This may be another tight and low-scoring game, where I give SC Freiburg an advantage to win it.
