Union Berlin's new coach, Steffen Baumgart, made an unsuccessful debut on the bench last weekend, with his team losing 2-0 to Heidenheim. Union Berlin did not show anything good in that game, playing mostly defensively and without ideas.

The last defeat was Union Berlin’s fifth defeat in six matches, so they are under tremendous pressure. Augsburg is only a point behind them, and a loss in this match could cause Union Berlin to drop just above the relegation zone.

Augsburg is weaker offensively and defensively than last season. On average, they concede two goals per match this season and are the fourth-worst attacking team.

A thing to note is that Augsburg has still not won an away match in the Bundesliga this season, losing five and drawing two of their seven away games.
