Atalanta suffered a second league defeat on the trot in the Italian top flight last weekend in Serie A when the upcoming hosts were dealt a disappointing 1-0 defeat away from home at Fiorentina which followed on from a 2-0 loss at home to Inter Milan just before the international break.

3rd placed Atalanta will therefore be eager to return to winning ways on Sunday evening when they play host to 7th placed Lazio at the Gewiss Stadium and although the hosts still remain in the top four places which guarantees Champions League football for next season, there is still work to do.

After posting an impressive 11-match winning streak earlier in the season, Atalanta have since struggled to rekindle that momentum as the hosts have collected just four wins from their subsequent 13 games overall whilst also slipping to three defeats but the goals market looks promising here.

Indeed, 10 out of Atalanta’s 14 home games this season have resulted in both teams scoring.

Lazio were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home with Torino last weekend in Serie A which made it three games without a win in the domestic top flight after the visitors drew 1-1 at home with Udinese along with being handed a comprehensive 5-0 loss away from home at Bologna.

The visitors have made themselves a tough unit to beat though in recent times in Serie A as Marco Baroni’s side have slipped to just one loss within their last eight games overall which also includes gaining victories over the likes of Cagliari, Monza and AC Milan, the latter being a 2-1 win away from home.

In addition, Lazio have been involved in four draws as well within this eight-game period, three of which also resulted in both teams scoring, while the bigger picture shows 20 out of Lazio’s last 30 games overall have seen both teams score.
