Sparta Rotterdam extended their unbeaten run in the Dutch top flight to four games last weekend when they registered a comprehensive 3-0 win away from home at Fortuna Sittard which consists of two wins along with two draws.

Recent victories against Willem II 4-0 and the aforementioned win against Fortuna Sittard have been boosted by picking up useful points in draws with NAC Breda and PEC Zwolle and have been instrumental in providing Sparta Rotterdam an important four-point cushion above the relegation play-off spot.

After having had to endure a rough patch of results which saw Sparta Rotterdam fail to win any of their preceding 13 games overall in the Eredivisie, Maurice Steijn’s side have since been handed just two defeats in their subsequent eight league matches, collecting four wins in the process.

NEC Nijmegen held 5th placed AZ Alkmaar to a 3-3 draw in the Dutch top flight last weekend which followed on from an encouraging 1-0 win away from home at Utrecht, but nevertheless, the recent picture shows results have been hard to come by for Rogier Meijer’s side.

Indeed, Nijmegen have managed to collect just one win from their last eight league matches while also being involved in four draws along with slipping to three defeats as well within this period.

Two of these three losses for Nijmegen have been inflicted upon the visitors on their travels by way of defeats at the hands of Groningen and FC Twente and the bigger picture shows NEC have picked up just three wins from their previous 15 games overall.
