Preview

Big hitting has been a feature of the season for the Boston Red Sox (48-45) and only three teams have scored more runs than them. This three game set has seen the power flowing through the batting lineup as they have piled up nineteen runs and that is going to cause some angst in the Colorado Rockies (21-71) bullpen.

Even when a starter has made a strong start, a couple of swings of the bat have turned things in the favour of the Red Sox.

The finale of the three game set sees Colorado turn to Antonio Senzatela and it is going to be a real challenge for the starter. The pitcher has a 3-12 record and 6.57 ERA in eighteen appearances made for the Rockies in 2025 and seventeen of those have been in starts.

The twelve decision losses are leading the Major League, but there were a couple of decent outings in June that have to offer Antonio Senzatela some encouragement. He was knocked around for three runs in just shy of 6 completed Innings in the only start made in July, but Senzatela will feel he was a hard luck loser on the day after being offered little run support by the Rockies batting lineup.

One concern for Antonio Senzatela is that he has struggled in his road starts and has allowed at least four runs in five of the last six away from Coors Field. He is preparing to face the Boston Red Sox for the first time, but those road numbers will be a worry considering what we have seen from the home bats in this three game set.

Boston will give the ball to Lucas Giolito who has a 5-1 record and 3.66 ERA in twelve starts made in 2025 having missed the entirety of 2024 while recovering from a serious injury. The time away has worked for a pitcher who had a solid Major League record until 2023 when bouncing through three teams.

After opening June by giving up seven runs and failing to get through 2 Innings, Lucas Giolito has bounced back impressively. His next five starts has seen him finish up with a 4-0 record with a 0.83 ERA and he has begun July by holding the Washington Nationals to a single run, while being one out of completing 8 Innings.

Lucas Giolito has had a couple of tough outings against the Colorado Rockies, but the last of those was all the way back in 2022.

Prediction

This is a 'boring' selection, but the Boston bats have been good to the page over the last couple of days and they can continue that run.

With a well rested bullpen to employ, the Red Sox may record another win over the Colorado Rockies by at least two runs.
