Elche will head into Friday night’s encounter in the Spanish top flight at home against Levante in confident mood as they prepare for the upcoming visit of lowly Levante at their Estadio Martínez Valero as the hosts have picked up useful points in each of their opening two games in the new La Liga campaign.

Draws with Real Betis and Atletico Madrid, both in 1-1 stalemates, have given Elche a solid platform from which to lift themselves further up the table against early season strugglers Levante.

Elche produced a mixed bag of results in their pre-season games but Eder Sarabia Armesto’s side grew stronger towards the start of this new season by collecting back-to-back wins against Almeria and Hercules respectively.

Elche and Levante both achieved automatic promotion from La Liga 2 at the end of last season.

Levante have not made the best of starts in this season’s La Liga campaign however, as the visitors have been handed back-to-back defeats by the likes of Alaves 2-1 away from home on the opening day of the season followed by a 3-2 loss at home to Barcelona.

The visitors will therefore be desperate to avoid a third league defeat on the trot on Friday night but if they are to pick up a result on Friday night (and indeed protect their La Liga status this time around), Levante know they must improve results on the road.

Levante were dealt no fewer than 12 defeats in their 19 away games in their previous stint in La Liga back in the 2021/22 season.
