A 6-0 win over RB Leipzig and a 2-3 win over Augsburg put Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga. I don’t think they will be stopped anywhere this season, considering they keep strengthening their squad.

Just before the end of the transfer window, they got striker Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea, and he will have his first appearance for Bayern Munich in this game. He will likely be paired with Luis Diaz, who also scored in the last match against Augsburg.

Bayern Munich has a game against Chelsea in the Champions League to think about, but I don’t think they will take this game lightly.

We all know they will press from the start to get the job done as soon as possible, and then possibly rest some of their players.

The last time Bayern Munich faced Hamburger SV in a competitive match was in 2018, when they demolished them 6-0 at home in a Bundesliga game.

Hamburger SV were very enthusiastic after their return to the Bundesliga after seven years' absence, but they found playing in the German top-flight league difficult.

After playing an uninspiring goalless draw against Borussia Monchengladbach in the first round, they lost 0-2 against their city rivals, St.Pauli, in the second.

On top of the loss, their Georgian right-back, Giorgi Gocholeishvili, got sent off in that match, so he is suspended for this fixture.

Getting points away against Bayern Munich looks like an impossible task, and perhaps their first Bundesliga win can come against weak Heidenheim next week at home.

The Betting Verdict

Bayern Munich has achieved 14 HT/FT wins in their last 17 duels against Hamburger SV across all competitions. Enough said.

The Bavarians will win this, no doubt. The question is how many they will score. Since a Champions League opening match is on the horizon, I believe they will press hard in the first half and then possibly lay off the foot of the gas when the game is settled.

It’s hard to find any value in most bets, but I would go with a combo bet of Bayern Munich to win & over 3.5 goals scored at fair odds.
