Latvia
The last Euro Qualifying campaign was really disappointing as far as Latvia are concerned with the team finishing bottom of the Group and conceding 19 goals. They have already surpassed the 3 points earned in the last Qualifying campaign during this World Cup Qualifying Group, while Latvia have also been a lot more competitive all around having conceded just 8 goals.
With all that said, Latvia are not expected to challenge for 2nd place in the Group, although they are going to be finishing above Andorra. The performances against Andorra will give Latvia some confidence before they take on Gibraltar in a Relegation Play Off in the Nations League in March as they look to retain League C status in that competition.
Latvia were held to a 2-2 draw by Andorra in Riga this past weekend, and they have not won any of 6 games since beating Andorra earlier in the Group, although 3 of those have ended in draws. They have held Albania to a draw and only narrowly been beaten by Serbia in home World Cup Qualifiers, although Latvia were beaten by North Macedonia and Armenia in home games in the Nations League.
England
Thomas Tuchel was not very happy with the home crowd and the lack of noise made at Wembley Stadium in the second half of the 3-0 win over Wales last Thursday. He will be hoping any travelling England fans will be making more noise having overseen a couple of quality attacking performances, while Tuchel has also cemented his authority on the squad by leaving the likes of Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden out of his latest selection.
There are just eight months left before the World Cup Finals are set to begin and England are almost certainly going to be playing in North America. They have won all of their Qualifiers in this section and England 4 points clear of Albania, which means they are a single win away from securing top spot in the Group.
England's win over Wales makes it 9 wins in 10 games in all competitions and 8 of those have been in either the Nations League or the World Cup Qualifiers. They have won the last 5 away games played and England impressed massively in the 0-5 win in Belgrade last month.
Harry Kane missed out on Thursday, but is set to travel with the squad. The manager may choose to make one or two changes to freshen things up and England do have decent squad depth to call upon.
Head to Head
England beat Latvia 3-0 at Wembley Stadium in March.
This is the first time Latvia are hosting England.
Prediction
The odds are that England are going to win in Riga and they are going to be able to celebrate progressing through step one under Thomas Tuchel by booking their place at the next World Cup Finals.
Before the trip to Serbia last month, England had not really impressed under the new manager with some of the performances lacking a real spark. Some of that may have been players going through the motions against opponents they will have expected to beat, but England won't something very positive in winning 0-5 in Belgrade.
Last Thursday they scored three early goals against Wales and ultimately coasted to a comfortable 3-0 win, but England can be tough to judge when they play in games like this one.
The expectation is that England should win well, but that was the case when they visited Andorra and returned with a 0-1 win.
Latvia have had less time to prepare for this game having played on Saturday in a 2-2 home draw with Andorra. That is a potential problem, but they have at least given Albania and Serbia pause for thought by holding the former 1-1 at home and only narrowly losing 0-1 to Serbia.
In the last Euro Qualifiers, Latvia did lose 2-3 at home to Turkiye, but were narrowly beaten by Wales and Croatia by the same 0-2 scoreline.
England did win 0-4 in Malta in the Euro Qualifying Group, but had been held by North Macedonia and Ukraine, and this is a squad that can sometimes lose interest in these Qualifying matches and make them a difficult watch for the fans and the manager.
With the attacking talent in this squad, England could make a mockery of this selection, but they are odds against to win a game featuring fewer than four total goals and that looks a decent way to approach this Qualifier.

Latvia 0-3 England
