Preview

The first batter heading out to the plate smashed a Home Run and that was good news for the prop bet identified with George Springer bringing in a 4.20 price and helping the Toronto Blue Jays move ahead in Game 1 of the ALCS. After all of the exploits of the Seattle Mariners to come through Game 5 of the Divisional Round, the Blue Jays fans would expected Springer's big opener to be the start of a very good night for the home team.

Instead the bats cooled off following that Home Run shot and the Toronto Blue Jays were not able to force Bryce Miller out of the game as early as they would have liked.

And that opened the door for the Seattle batting lineup to come up big by finally getting to Kevin Gausman and securing a 3-1 road win.

Now they are playing with house money with Seattle looking to take a complete grip of this Series before heading back home for three games.

Bryce Miller's performance feels very important in order to give the bullpen a little more time to recover from the 15 Innings win over the Detroit Tigers. The Mariners will be looking for more of the same from Logan Gilbert, who pitched out of the bullpen in that Game 5 victory on Friday, and he has allowed a single run in 8 Innings thrown in the post-season.

He was a consistent pitcher down the stretch with Logan Gilbert operating on a 2.52 ERA in his last seven regular season starts and the confidence is clearly high, even if the pitcher is going into this one on shorter rest than usual.

Logan Gilbert gave up two runs and was not able to get out of the 5th Inning when facing the Toronto Blue Jays in this ballpark in the regular season. However, he did not factor into the decision and has a career 0-2 record and a 5.24 ERA in six starts against the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays will counter by giving the ball to rookie Trey Yesavage who flamed eleven New York Yankees batters in his first ever Playoff start. He pitched into the 6th Inning in that Divisional Round game and Yesavage picked up the decision win as he prepares to start for just the fifth time as a Major League player.

Trey Yesavage has yet to give up a run at the Rogers Centre where he has thrown over 10 Innings in two starts.

Prediction

The lead off batter scoring a Home Run would have concerned some Seattle fans knowing the bullpen was unlikely to be ready to go, but Bryce Miller's recovery deserves all the respect and the Mariners batters came up big late in the game.

Any road win from the opening two games played in the Championship Series has to be considered a success, but Seattle will be greedy for more.

Logan Gilbert is going on short rest, but he will take inspiration from Miller even if Gilbert's record against the Blue Jays is not the best.

The key is how the Seattle batters will deal with Trey Yesavage who has made just four Major League starts and just Struck Out eleven Yankees batters in his first Playoff start. The rookie is carrying some big expectations on his shoulders, but those will be weighing a little heavier as he looks to help Toronto avoid slipping into a 0-2 hole before the three games to be played in Seattle.

More support will be needed from the batting lineup, who struggled in Game 1, but they have been better when facing Logan Gilbert. That may give the home team a narrow edge, although Seattle have been arguably the hottest team in the American League over the last several weeks and playing with real confidence.

The Prop bets being flagged up have been firing and George Springer's Home Run returned another profit from the selections identified in Game 1.

You just know that Cal Raleigh will be backed heavily after securing a NINTH Home Run in just fourteen games played in this ballpark. His odds are plenty short now though and facing Trey Yesavage for the first time proved very difficult for a much respected New York Yankees batting lineup.

Instead it could be better to focus on Vladimir Guerrero Jr who is having a really good post-season and who has hit two Home Runs when facing Logan Gilbert. He is 6-15 against Logan Gilbert and Guerrero Jr had a couple of big cracks of the bat in the Game 1 loss and is 4.25 to go a little longer and secure at least one Home Run.

This is also a big swinging Seattle team and that has resulted in starting pitchers earning at least four Strike Outs in each Playoff game so far in 2025. Four of the six starters have secured at least six Strike Outs and Trey Yesavage can reach that total in Game 2 at 1.83.

You can double him up with Cal Raleigh to earn a Hit, any Hit, at 3.00 and that looks another decent angle considering the performance of the hottest Seattle batter in this ballpark. Cal Raleigh has at least one Hit in all six Playoff games played this season and he should find his way onto base through his power at least once in this game.
