Preview

Inconsistency through an injury backlog has made things a bit more difficult for the Philadelphia 76ers (11-9) but they will be glad to be above 0.500 for the season knowing reinforcements are edging back into contention. They will be taking aim at winning back to back games for the first time in a month and there will be no sympathy for the injuries that have piled up in the visiting locker room.

The Golden State Warriors (11-11) knew they were on this road trip without Steph Curry, but Jimmy Butler picked up an issue in the last game and has to be seen as Questionable. With the NBA Cup taking centre stage early next week, the Warriors will be able to give their top players an opportunity for an extended rest at the end of this week and may not want Butler to perhaps make things worse by playing through the pain.

A number of other contributors are also missing for the Warriors and that may make things more difficult for them, even if they continue to play really hard on the Defensive side of the court.

Head Coach Steve Kerr has long been an advocate for his team to perform on that side of the court, even when the flashy Offensive plays were making the headlines, and the Warriors are going to have to find a way to contain Tyrese Maxey.

While the 76ers have been without Joel Embiid, Paul George and VJ Edgecombe, Tyrese Maxey has sparked the team and helped keep them somewhat on track. There is still a real concern about Embiid and how effective he may be when he does return, but Paul George and VJ Edgecombe were available for the win over the Washington Wizards and may be key to helping Philadelphia win consecutive games.

You can never dismiss a Golden State team that can find impact players from the three point arc, but this looks a difficult test if they are going to be short-handed again.

The Warriors lost their last two road games at Orlando and Miami in pretty convincing fashion and they may struggle to stick with the Philadelphia 76ers in this one.

Nothing will come easy, but the hosts could have a slight edge when it comes to the boards and having a couple of extra possessions may make all the difference when everything is said and done on Thursday evening.
