A Sports Betting Preview by Auls
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 6th December 2025 - Kick Off 3pm
Everton
It is difficult to gauge exactly what the expectations are for Everton Football Club in the 2025/26 season- there are times when manager David Moyes speaks about guiding the team back in European Football, but the squad depth is perhaps lacking for the current campaign unless Everton choose to make additions in the January transfer window.
The latest away Premier League win has just kept Everton in touch with those rivals that will believe that earning a spot in a UEFA competition for next season is a possibility. Consistency is going to be the key in what is a tight, packed Division and Everton will be looking to improve the 3-2-2 record at Hill Dickinson Stadium and especially after concluding November with a thumping defeat here.
Everton were beaten 1-4 by Newcastle United in the last fixture played in their new home, but the win at Bournemouth on Tuesday means they have won 3 of the last 4 Premier League games to move into a positive position in the standings. The defeat to Newcastle United means Everton have lost 2 of the last 3 home League games and conceded seven goals in those losses, but sandwiched between those defeats is a 2-0 win over Fulham.
Idrissa Gueye and Timothy Iroegbunam are both suspended, while Michael Keane is an injury doubt. Nathan Patterson, Jarrad Branthwaite and Seamus Coleman are all missing.
Nottingham Forest
Beating a Midlands rival will always be very important, but for Sean Dyche and his Nottingham Forest squad, the win at Molineux has just kept them moving in the right direction away from the bottom three. For them it is a bonus to have left a rival in dire straits, and the victory also represented an important bounce back moment for a Nottingham Forest team that had lost 0-2 against Brighton last weekend.
They may still be 16th in the Premier League table, but Nottingham Forest have moved onto 15 points for the season and there is little doubt that Sean Dyche and his Coaching staff have had an important impact at the club. The Tricky Trees have a 2-2-3 away record after the 0-1 win at Wolves on Wednesday evening.
Nottingham Forest have won 4 of the last 5 games in all competitions and there is definite momentum behind them as they continue to navigate a busy schedule. They are not only unbeaten in 3 away games in all competitions, but Nottingham Forest have kept clean sheets in each of those matches, while also winning consecutive away Premier League games at Anfield and Molineux.
Murillo is hoping to shake off an illness and join the squad for this away game, while the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Douglas Luiz and Chris Wood are still hoping to return sooner than later, although not this weekend.
Head to Head
Both Everton and Nottingham Forest beat the other away from home last season.
Everton have won 1 of the last 4 when hosting Nottingham Forest, although will be welcoming them into their new home for the first time.
Prediction
David Moyes and Sean Dyche are both very familiar with Everton Football Club with the latter being replaced by the former earlier this year, although both will be comfortable with their current roles.
It will be interesting to see what kind of reception Dyche receives from the Everton fans- he might not have produced the most eye-pleasing football, but Sean Dyche did save them from the drop when it looked like Everton were destined for relegation, and his overall work at the club was decent enough.
In reality Sean Dyche won't be wasting any time thinking about that and instead will be looking to help his Nottingham Forest team maintain a positive run of form. The win at Molineux will have given the squad a huge amount of confidence as they bounced back from a poor loss to Brighton at the first attempt and the manager has got the team going back to basics with 3 away clean sheets in a row.
They will certainly head to Hill Dickinson Stadium looking to make things as difficult as possible for an Everton team that have been a little up and down in the last couple of weeks.
Two important away wins by the same 0-1 scoreline will have impressed, but Everton were thumped 1-4 by Newcastle United in the last home game and displayed a huge amount of defensive vulnerabilities from set pieces and crosses. This is an area that Nottingham Forest will look to exploit and makes the away team dangerous, although David Moyes will have been working hard with his team and will have been much happier with the defensive performance at Bournemouth.
The first goal feels really important in a fixture between two teams that will be looking to build on a solid defensive foundation.
Scoring first was key last season with both Premier League fixtures won by the away team with a clean sheet.
Since Nottingham Forest returned to the top flight, 5 of the 6 games played between these teams have ended with less than three goals shared out, including each of the last 3 at Goodison Park.
Of course an early goal can change the entire outlook of a game and the approach needed, but this feels like it could be another tight fixture between Everton and Nottingham Forest. Both managers will be focusing on not wanting to give too much away and that can contribute to the fixture finishing with less than three goals shared out.
