A Sports Betting Preview by Auls
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 6th December 2025 - Kick Off 3pm
Tottenham Hotspur
Before kick off, most Tottenham Hotspur fans would likely have been very satisfied with a point at St James' Park, but the performance was not really much better than those the supporters have seen in recent weeks. Thomas Frank did mention the controversial Penalty that was awarded against his team, but the manager will be well aware that only two shots on target is not going to be a sustainable way to pick up League points and he will also be demanding improvement in the home results and performances.
There is a growing pressure around Thomas Frank, despite only being months in the job as manager of Tottenham Hotspur. Expectations will have been that the team are firmly in the mix for European places, but they have struggled to maintain early levels and Tottenham Hotspur have a really poor 1-2-4 record at home, which means only earning more home points than bottom club Wolves.
Tottenham Hotspur have won 1 of the last 8 games in all competitions and none of the last 5, although the late equaliser at St James' Park means avoiding a fourth defeat in a row. They are back at home where they have won 1 of the last 6 games in all competitions and where the fans have turned on the players after the 1-2 loss to Fulham last time out.
It will be a similar squad to the one that travelled to the North East that will be available to Thomas Frank this weekend, although the manager may choose to shuffle his pack.
Brentford
It was perhaps a relatively easy choice for Keith Andrews to make some changes to his Brentford team for the visit of Arsenal with the game coming just days after a late effort to beat Burnley. He will have been pleased enough with those coming into the starting eleven, although Brentford's poor away record was extended another game after the 2-0 defeat.
Overall Brentford have to be pretty content with being in mid-table in the first year under an inexperienced manager and with some big personalities leaving the club. The Bees could push towards the European places in a tight Division, but that would only come about if they can improve the 1-0-6 away record in the top flight.
Brentford's recent run of fixtures have either ended in wins or losses and that is largely down to where they have been playing. The defeat at the Emirates Stadium means Brentford have lost 3 away Premier League games in succession since beating West Ham United and following up with a League Cup Fourth Round win at Grimsby Town.
Aaron Hickey and Reiss Nelson are expected to travel with the squad, while Igor Thiago is set to be restored to lead the line.
Head to Head
Tottenham Hotspur did the Premier League double over Thomas Frank's Brentford last season.
They came from behind to beat Brentford at home last season to make it consecutive home wins over this London rivalT despite Tottenham Hotspur conceding first both times.
Prediction
This is an important game for Thomas Frank and he will feel the late leveller at Newcastle United gives his team something to build upon.
After a positive start, recent weeks have been much stickier for the former Brentford manager and Thomas Frank will have to use his insights at his former club to devise a positive plan for his Tottenham Hotspur players on Saturday.
Playing at home has been challenging for the team- the fans are anxious in the stands and that has filtered onto the pitch, although there have been a few more positive signs from a defensive point of view in recent games here.
Unfortunately Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see attacking football and that is where Frank's tactics have really disappointed.
They were fortunate to earn a point against Newcastle United and the attacking numbers in recent home games have been incredibly poor. That despite the qualities that are available to Tottenham Hotspur and so this has become a game in which they are perhaps a bigger price than they should be.
Take nothing away from Keith Andrews and the job he is doing with Brentford, but the inexperience has perhaps been showing most in away games. Brentford have struggle to know when to stick or twist in those matches and they have been much more vulnerable defensively when outside of the cozy Gtech Community Stadium.
Losing at Arsenal is not going to be the test, but Brentford have lost 3 away League games in a row and conceded at least twice in each of those. You have to believe if Tottenham Hotspur can just avoid making the back-breaking mistakes like they did against Fulham that this is a team with enough quality in the final third to edge to the three points.
Defensively they will feel they can mainly contain what Brentford will be bringing and just avoiding those mistakes makes a goal or two all Tottenham Hotspur may need to pick up the win.
