Burnley
There are still more than half of the Premier League games still to play as far as Burnley are concerned, but there does feel like an increasing pressure on Scott Parker to find some positive results. If you put a line through Wolves, Burnley will be a little more worried that the likes of Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and West Ham United have picked up key points over the last three weeks.
This has happened at the same time as Burnley continuing to lose matches and means the teams are 19th in the Premier League table and 5 points from safety. Losing touch before the January transfer window would be a bitter blow for Burnley who have a 2-1-4 record at Turf Moor in the Premier League this season.
Burnley were beaten at Newcastle United last weekend which makes it 6 straight losses in the Premier League since putting together consecutive wins. The side beat Leeds United at Turf Moor, but Burnley have lost 3 straight League games here since then and failed to score a single goal in that run.
Kyle Walker, Lucas Pires and Hannibal Mejbri are all suspended, while Axel Tuanzebe is out with an injury.
Fulham
Despite some recent positive performances, Marco Silva will be frustrated his Fulham team have not added to the 17 points they have secured in the Premier League so far this season. This means they are still looking over their shoulder in terms of the relegation fight, especially with the three teams immediately below Fulham all moving a little closer to The Cottagers.
The side may be 15th in the Premier League table, but Fulham are just 4 points clear of West Ham United in the relegation zone. One of the main issues for Fulham has been picking up consistent results away from Craven Cottage and they have a 1-1-5 away record having scored just 6 goals in those matches.
Fulham rounded out November with back to back Premier League wins over Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur, but they have suffered 2 defeats in December and both at Craven Cottage. They did win the last away game at Spurs, which will give the players confidence, especially as that victory snapped a run of 5 consecutive away League defeats.
Antonee Robinson, Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Muniz are expected to miss out.
Head to Head
Two years ago, Burnley picked up four points against Fulham in the Premier League, although it did not prevent them from being relegated.
The game at Turf Moor ended 2-2 in February 2024.
That result means Burnley are now unbeaten in 32 home games against Fulham going all the way back to April 1951.
Prediction
If Burnley were to lose their long unbeaten record at home against Fulham, you would have to wonder if the board would make the decision to remove Scott Parker as manager.
Two seasons ago they stuck with Vincent Kompany, but Burnley never threatened to avoid the drop having made a miserable start to that campaign.
Scott Parker did bring the team back into the Premier League, but 6 straight losses has just meant the team are in danger of doing Wolves in being cut off at the bottom of the Division. They have lost 3 in a row at Turf Moor without scoring, but failing to earn a positive result against a Fulham team who are edging backwards would be very difficult for everyone to accept.
Burnley have been strong at home and were perhaps unfortunate to lose to Crystal Palace, but the suspensions hurt this weekend.
They are facing a Fulham team who gave Manchester City and Crystal Palace a lot to think about in losing efforts to open this month and who snapped a 5 game losing run away from home by beating Tottenham Hotspur at the end of November. Marco Silva's men have plenty of Premier League experience and they will feel they can hurt a Burnley team that has been struggling at both ends of the field.
However, this Burnley team have looked a bit more threatening going forward in recent games and they are unlikely to be blown away by a Fulham team that have scored just 6 away goals all season.
The last couple of home performances will be encouraging, but Fulham have not been nearly as effective on their travels and you do have to believe that Burnley can find a positive result.
A 1-1 draw looks most likely, but backing Burnley with a start on the Asian Handicap to oppose odds on quotes for a Fulham win looks the right approach to take.
