2025-12-27 - Brentford vs Bournemouth

A Sports Betting Preview by Auls

Brentford v Bournemouth
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 27th December 2025 - Kick Off 3pm

Brentford

Keith Andrews is unlikely to have been panicking as his Brentford team moved through a sticky patch this month, but he would have been aware of the importance of picking up a positive result last weekend at Molineux. His team may have done even more than that when Brentford secured a comfortable 0-2 win and that has just given them a bit of a buffer to the bottom three ahead of two home games to come.

The Bees are not only up to 12th in the Premier League table, but they are 10 points clear of West Ham United in the bottom three and the manager will be looking for a couple of positive results to round out the first half of the season. Home form has been massively important for Brentford who have a 5-2-1 record at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford had not won any of 4 games in all competitions and they had been beaten 3 times in that run, but the 0-2 win at Wolves will have just boosted the confidence. The side had won 3 Premier League games in a row at home, but Brentford could not hold onto a lead in the 1-1 draw with Leeds United most recently here.

Reiss Nelson could be available this weekend to add to the numbers who travelled to the Midlands last week.

Bournemouth

Lapses in concentration have proven to be costly for Bournemouth in recent weeks and the dropped Premier League points has seen them drop down the standings. Andoni Iraola will not be too concerned, but he will want the board to act if Antoine Semenyo is sold in the January transfer window and the ambitions of the manager is to guide Bournemouth into European Football.

The Premier League is pretty tightly bunched and so Bournemouth may be 15th in the standings, but also only 5 points behind Sunderland in 6th place. The Cherries have a 1-3-4 away record in the Premier League this season where they have scored 15 goals, but conceded 23.

Bournemouth have not won any of the last 8 Premier League games, although they have earned 3 draws in succession following a run of 4 defeats in 5 fixtures played. They had lost 3 away League games in succession before the stunning 4-4 draw at Manchester United a couple of weeks ago.

The squad that was available last weekend should be set to travel for this one.

Head to Head

Earlier this season, Brentford won 0-2 at the Vitality Stadium in the League Cup Second Round.

Brentford won both Premier League games played against Bournemouth last season and have won 3 in a row against this opponent.

The Bees are unbeaten in 12 home games against Bournemouth, while they have won 5 of the last 6 when hosting.

Prediction

December is always going to bring cold conditions in London, but overall it looks like a day where good football can be played without the wind and rain that can be around at this time of the year.

That should suit Brentford and Bournemouth and these are two teams that have tended to match up pretty well.

Brentford have had the edge in recent meetings and have been especially solid when hosting Bournemouth in West London.

However, Bournemouth have played their part in those recent fixtures and both teams are expected to find the back of the net in this one.

Bournemouth away games have been filled with goals this season, although the concern for Andoni Iraola is that his team have been conceding far too many in those fixtures. The defensive underlying numbers have not been very good either and that has to be a concern against a Brentford team that have been strong going forward at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Of course Bournemouth will be very aware of how good they can be going forward and getting on the front foot is the key for them here.

The last 4 Premier League fixtures between these two teams have all ended with at least three goals shared out and the feeling is that both will score this weekend.

1-1 is perhaps the most dangerous score against the selection, but the expectation is that both Brentford and Bournemouth will get forward with real ambition and it should lead to a game featuring at least three goals shared out.
