Bayern Munich continue to dominate the Bundesliga. Last weekend, they overturned a half-time deficit in spectacular fashion, scoring five second-half goals to beat RB Leipzig 1-5 away. That result extended their unbeaten run in the league to 18 games and restored their 11-point cushion at the top of the table.

In midweek Champions League action, the Bavarians also secured a routine 2-0 victory over Union St. Gilloise, confirming their place in the knockout stages.

With 50 points and a +57 goal difference after 18 Bundesliga games, they are setting league records and look on course to emulate Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten title-winning season of 2023/24.

And a couple of more things – Bayern Munich’s scoring form is unstoppable: all of their last 19 Bundesliga matches have featured 3+ goals, and they have netted at least twice in each of their last 26 Bundesliga games.

Augsburg

Augsburg are struggling to find consistency, remaining winless in five Bundesliga matches, with three draws and two defeats. Last weekend, they played out a 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg, throwing away a two-goal lead late in the game.

Coach Manuel Baum has lost just two of his six games in charge since replacing Sandro Wagner, but the results have not reflected the performances. Augsburg have repeatedly conceded late goals, including a last-minute equaliser against a 10-man Union Berlin, and will need a near-perfect performance to challenge Bayern Munich.

The Betting Verdict

Bayern have a strong record against Augsburg, winning 23 of 29 Bundesliga meetings (two draws, four defeats), including 12 home wins and just a single defeat at the Allianz Arena.

Last season’s Bavarian derby showed that Augsburg can fight back when trailing (they went from 3-0 to 3-2 against the favourites), but Bayern Munich’s firepower at the Allianz Arena will likely be too much again.
