Roma has topped the Serie A table at one point, but hasn't been mentioned as a scudetto candidate for a while now. They're 5th, at 36 points, while Inter is at 42 and the Nerazzuri also have one game less. That's a nine-point difference and it's difficult to expect Roma to make up for the lost ground, especially as they can't seem to win any derbies. They lost to Napoli, Juventus and Atalanta in the last month and a half.

Interestingly, they won all other matches, with the exception of an unfortunate defeat to Cagliari that happened solely because of a red card for Roma.

Who could have seen it coming? Cagliari won three times in a row -- first they destroyed Juventus scudetto chances with a 1-0 home win, then sent Fiorentina back to the tactical drawing board with a 1-2 away win, and if that wasn't enough, they dispatched Verona 4-0. Wow.

That's safety right there, Cagliari is suddenly at 28 points and usually 34 to 36 points are enough to stay up. With 15 more rounds to go, Cagliari will certainly win 6-8 more points.

This team doesn't have any real quality in the roster, so this is just good variance, you can't bet on it being replicated. What we can be certain of, however, is that Cagliari is in a good mood, and when teams are in a good mood they fly across the pitch.

Knowing that they can't really score two goals in 90 minutes, Roma will likely once again adopt a win-to-nil approach, which means they'll work just as hard on keeping things tight at the back as they will on scoring a goal. This game will be played on Cagliari's half, no doubt about it. And when that's the case, with so many bodies it's difficult to find an opening.

More likely than not, this is a 1-0 kind of game, the Roma home classic, where they work hard to get that late goal. There's a chance it can go to 3-0 and it will definitely go over if Cagliari scores.
