Wrexham were involved in an eight-goal thriller at their Racecourse Ground on Saturday afternoon but luckily for The Dragons they came out on top in a 5-3 victory over fellow play-off candidates Ipswich Town which in turn lifted Phil Parkinson’s side up into 6th place in the table.

Wrexham had previously disposed of Ipswich Town in the FA Cup by a more modest 1-0 scoreline and having suffered just the single defeat in their last seven matches in all competitions, the Welsh hosts look in good shape to pick up another three points on Tuesday night.

Within this recent period of results, Wrexham have collected important league wins against the likes of QPR and Sheffield Wednesday while a home record of 7-6-4 31/27 suggests further goals and points could be on their way to Wales on Tuesday night.

Portsmouth currently occupy 19th place in the Championship table but John Mousinho’s side picked up an unexpected but welcome three points at The Den on the weekend by virtue of a 3-1 win away from home at 3rd placed Millwall.

The south coast visitors’ form in recent weeks has lifted at just about the right time for Pompey who have been dealt just two defeats in their last eight league games which were to Preston NE and Sheffield United but also includes victories over Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom.

However, an ordinary looking away record standing at 4-5-7 15/25 suggests Portsmouth may well struggle to keep up with a free-scoring and in-form Wrexham outfit on Tuesday night.

These two sides shared a point in a 0-0 draw at Fratton Park back in November but on home soil, Wrexham look the favourites to take the spoils here at decent odds.
