Preview

A big win over the current Eastern Conference leaders has not only pushed the San Antonio Spurs (41-16) winning run to nine games, but they have moved ominously behind the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference. Just 3 games separate those two teams and a young Spurs team continue to develop very effectively as they look to put together a rhythm and chemistry that can see them have a big impact in the Playoffs later in the season.

They face the Toronto Raptors (34-24) who are hanging onto a top six spot in the Eastern Conference.

Playing on a back to back makes this a tough scheduling spot, while the Raptors were not able to get the better of a short-handed Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Poor form in the middle two Quarters of that game saw it get away from the Raptors and the Fourth Quarter rally ended up coming up short.

Ot does mean they have put in more work into that game, which is going to have sapped some energy, and this is a tough outing against an opponent that have been looking really good at both ends of the court.

Scottie Barnes could be missing for the Raptors again and it is going to be a real challenge trying to slow down a San Antonio team averaging 50% shooting from the field in recent outings. They are not reliant on the three point shooting, but the Spurs are well-balanced and that is going to make it tough for a Toronto team who have struggled against the best teams in the NBA.

There is a feeling that the Raptors can bring the Defensive intensity to give themselves a chance at times, but Toronto are struggling for consistency when they have the ball.

Now they are going to have to try and work the ball around a San Antonio Defensive unit that have been a huge part of the nine game winning run and who have been restricting opponents to 42% shooting from the field in recent games. The hard working Toronto Offensive unit is not really going to be able to make a big impact on those numbers, while it should be mentioned again that the challenges are much greater when playing the second half of a back to back.

It only becomes tougher knowing that those games are against the elite of the Western Conference and the San Antonio Spurs are on court to win a tenth game in a row.

All of the previous nine wins have been by margins of at least 9 points and the Spurs may have too much on both ends of the court in this one too.

Lay the points with the road favourite and take some of the juice out of the price by backing them at Bookmaker.
