Teams that are trending in very different directions meet in the NBA on Tuesday and the Atlanta Hawks (33-31) are big favourites to get the better of the Dallas Mavericks (21-43). The visiting team are almost 10 games out of the top ten places in the Western Conference having been beaten for the seventh time in a row, while the Atlanta Hawks are playing with momentum and looking to secure a direct spot in the First Round of the Playoffs without having to go through the Play In Tournament.

Cooper Flagg has returned for the Mavericks, but they are continuing to play without any consistency on either end of the court and that can be exposed by this Atlanta Hawks team.

Six of the last seven defeats have been by at least 9 points, while five of those losses have been by at least 13 point margins.

The Mavericks have been averaging just 40% from the field in recent games and that is not going to cut it in the NBA with the feeling being that Dallas are looking forward to the end of the season. They have been shooting the ball very well from the field and found the balanced attack that is making teams that much more dangerous- plenty of three pointers have been hit, but the Hawks can hurt you inside the arc and second chance possessions have also helped.

Dallas have won four in a row in this series, but none of those games have been played this season and the Atlanta Hawks have put together a roster that may be able to make some noise in the post-season.

At the same time the Mavericks are shrinking away and that may be evident on the scoreboard when all is said and done.
