Schalke 04 has built some strong momentum in recent weeks and remains a top contender in the Bundesliga promotion race. They are unbeaten in five games, winning three, including a narrow 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld last week.

The Royal Blues have also shown strong attacking consistency lately, scoring regularly and picking up several important results. At home, they are unbeaten in six, winning four matches.

Defensively, they have improved as well, helping stabilise their results after a shaky period earlier in the campaign.

Schalke 04 had no problems with Hannover 96 in their first duel of the season, comfortably beating them 0-3.

Hannover 96 remain one of the most competitive teams in the 2.Bundesliga and are still pushing for promotion themselves. Their attack has been one of their main strengths this season, and is among the best in the league.

However, Hannover 96’s recent form has been slightly shakier compared to some of the other promotion contenders. They are capable of beating strong teams, but they also drop points in matches where they control long spells of play. For example, last week they unexpectedly lost to poor Greuther Furth 1-2 at home.

Playing away in Gelsenkirchen is also one of the tougher trips in 2.Bundesliga, particularly because the atmosphere in Gelsenkirchen can quickly swing games in the home side’s favour.

A thing to note is that Hannover 96 is currently the best away team in 2.Bundesliga. They remained unbeaten in 11 of 13 away matches (7 wins) and won all their last three on the road.

The Betting Verdict

This is probably the biggest match of the weekend in the 2.Bundesliga.

Both sides are strong going forward, and both still have serious ambitions of finishing in the promotion places, which should make this a very open game.

I think Schalke 04 has a slight advantage, but Hannover 96 plays really well against strong sides. Instead of going for a winner, I would go with backing both sides to score here.
