Football: English Premier League
Saturday 21st March 2026 - Kick Off 3pm
Fulham
There has been little news around the future of Marco Silva as manager and Fulham have perhaps been distracted by the off field activity after failing to score for a third match in a row. At least this time Fulham were able to earn a point and they are looking to round out this set of fixtures before the March international break with a victory that can once again reignite hopes of a European spot for next season.
They may be 11th in the Premier League table, but Fulham are only 4 points behind West London rivals Brentford in 7th place after the latest round of fixtures were completed on Monday. While the team do have an 8-2-5 record at Craven Cottage, the manager and the Fulham squad will know that needs to be improved if they are going to finish high enough up the League standings to return to Europe.
Fulham had won 3 in a row in all competitions, but have lost twice in a row before the goalless draw with Nottingham Forest last Sunday. The lack of recent lack of goals is an issue and Fulham have been beaten in 3 of the last 4 at Craven Cottage in all competitions with just 3 goals scored across those matches.
Emile Smith Rowe is hoping to be available this weekend.
Burnley
There were enough chances at both ends to believe the game could have ended in any scoreline, but the goalless draw with Bournemouth makes it feel like Burnley are slowly slipping out of the top flight. Scott Parker is well aware that his team need wins, but his Burnley team have struggled to find the balance needed in the Premier League and that leaves them in a desperate spot with games running out.
The side will go into this weekend in 19th place in the Premier League table and Burnley are still only 9 points from safety, but the four wins earned all season makes it hard to believe they can bridge that gap. Two of the main relegation rivals are facing one another this weekend and so it feels like Burnley need to find a way to add another win to the 2-3-10 away record in the top flight.
Burnley showed character to fight back from 2-0 down to win at Crystal Palace last month, but they have not won any of the next 5 games in all competitions and picked up a couple of points from a possible 12 available in the Premier League. They did earn a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge after the win in South London, but Burnley were well beaten at Everton in the last away League game played.
Maxime Esteve is hoping to be fit enough to travel, but Burnley's squad remains without a number of members who are long-term absentees.
Head to Head
An entertaining game at Turf Moor in December ended in a 2-3 win for Fulham.
Recent fixtures at Craven Cottage have surprisingly been more difficult for Fulham when hosting this opponent- in fact it is Burnley who have won the last 3 here and all without conceding a goal.
Prediction
The last couple of weeks have been disappointing for Fulham fans with the FA Cup Fifth Round exit sandwiched by a couple of underwhelming Premier League performances against relegation threatened clubs.
They face another one on Saturday and Marco Silva will be urging his players to find some momentum that could carry them into European Football.
Fulham did pick up a point last week at the City Ground, but it was another game in which they had failed to score.
The side did create decent chances in the consecutive 0-1 defeats to West Ham United and Southampton, but more composure will be needed if Fulham are going to pick up an important three points. Having Harry Wilson back feels like it could give them the edge, but you do have to wonder if the squad is distracted by the uncertainty around Marco Silva, who has yet to sign a contract extension at Craven Cottage.
Scott Parker's Burnley may feel they are heading back the capital at the right time with the recent setbacks suffered by Fulham.
The last two trips to London have been very productive as Burnley have picked up a win at Crystal Palace before the draw at Stamford Bridge, but this is a team that continue to give up huge chances. That was evident last week when somehow holding Bournemouth to a goalless draw, but Burnley need to find wins and pushing men forward have left them vulnerable at the back.
Set pieces have been a route to goal against Burnley and Fulham should have too much for this opponent.
You could have said the same when Fulham were beaten at Craven Cottage by Burnley in May 2021 and December 2023 so nothing can be taken for granted.
However, Fulham should have the better of the chances and there is still enough quality in the final third to believe they cannot keep missing when those opportunities are created.
