Union Berlin has lost six of their last nine Bundesliga matches, yet they sit in mid-table. They have a seven-point advantage over the relegation zone before the weekend, and a win here would definitely keep them in the Bundesliga next season.

It is time for them to start playing better, especially after that 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the last round. They were mostly decent in their recent home games, winning twice, drawing twice, and losing twice.

Their coach, Steffen Baumgart, is under some pressure as well, so I expect him to motivate his players to perform better and secure a win that will give them peace of mind before the final stretch of six games.

St.Pauli

February was a great month for relegation-threatened St.Pauli, when they won three of four games. However, they are now winless in three, losing back-to-back to Borussia Monchengladbach and SC Freiburg.

St.Pauli is now third from the bottom, two points behind safety. Things look very difficult for them, knowing that a game against Bayern Munich is coming up next weekend. Failing to win this game will put them in a deeper hole.

The Betting Verdict

The game is more important to St. Pauli, but I don’t feel comfortable backing them, given they have lost 10 of their 14 away games so far, including 5 of the last 6.

Union Berlin is shaky, but they are a decent lower-table side who can stay clear of relegation with a win here.

It should be a close, tense game, and I would go with Union Berlin to win.
