Preview
For the second time in three days, the Miami Heat (41-38) and the Toronto Raptors (44-35) will be meeting in Canada and there is a little less on the line for the road team.
The blowout loss on Tuesday is the third time Miami have been beaten by the Toronto Raptors in 2025/26 and it has confirmed the place in the Eastern Conference Play In Tournament. With three games left, the Heat are going to have to dig deep to climb out of the Number 10 Seed and the attention may already be turning to making sure they are ready to compete in what is likely going to be a bid to win two road games to earn the Number 8 Seed in the Playoffs.
On the other side of the court, the Toronto win on Tuesday has just made sure they are keeping ahead of the teams chasing a top six finish in the Eastern Conference.
The Raptors are only 0.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic, but they have a game more to play between now and the end of the regular season and Toronto are going to be taking aim at improving the final position. The Atlanta Hawks have just stumbled this week and a win on Thursday will allow the Raptors to move up alongside them for the Number 5 Seed.
There has to be a real confidence in the Toronto camp- not only have they won all three games against the Miami Heat, but they have matched up well enough to restrict them to fewer than 100 points in all of those wins. This means Miami have failed to hit 100 or more points in just six games this season and half of those have been against the Raptors and that is a match up that is difficult to ignore.
In the meeting earlier this week, Toronto were far more efficient with the performance from the field and that allowed them to improve to 4-3 in the last seven games played. This may not be motoring towards the Playoffs, but the Raptors will certainly feel there is something building and it is much more consistent form than the Miami Heat have been able to put together down the stretch.
As was the case on Tuesday, it should be pointed out that the Miami Heat are a big three point shooting team and if they find rhythm from the distance, they can become very tough to stop. They threw up 44 of those shots on Tuesday, but the Heat struggled for any efficiency with just 12 landed, while they were massively outperformed on the Rebounding numbers.
It had also been pointed out that the Heat's three point Defensive work had not been that strong of late and they allowed Toronto to produce better from that distance than they have been managing in recent games. During that time the Raptors have averaged just under 10 three pointers made per game, but they had 12/28 numbers on Tuesday.
Replicating that may not be easy, but the Raptors will certainly feel they can continue the Defensive dominance of this Eastern Conference rival.
This may ultimately be the reason we get something of a repeat- it may not be the comfortable 26 point margin again, but all three Toronto wins over Miami have been by double digits this season and they can cover this mark at home and take another step towards the First Round of the Playoffs.
Prediction
Lay the points with the home favourite, even at a higher mark than was set for Tuesday.
