Overall, Köln is one of the weaker Bundesliga sides, especially this year. They recorded only one victory in their last 10 Bundesliga matches, and that win came against Werder Bremen in their most recent home game.

Bayer Leverkusen are hunting the last spot for the Champions League, but their last 1-2 home defeat against Augsburg could be crucial. They are now four points behind fourth with four games remaining, so not only do they have to win all remaining games, but they also depend on other results.

Lucky for them (or not), next week they will play the third RB Leipzig, but they first must beat lowly Köln.

Bayer Leverkusen lost 0-2 to Bayern Munich in the midweek DFB Cup semifinal, so they have no chance of a trophy anymore. If they miss out on the Champions League, it will be a disappointing season overall.

A good thing is that they have a positive away record this season and have remained unbeaten in their last four Bundesliga trips, winning twice and drawing twice.
