St.Pauli are winless in 7 straight Bundesliga games and are running out of time. A win is badly needed. Another loss would almost certainly mean a bottom-three finish, and Mainz is an opponent they could have wished for at this stage.

St.Pauli is five points behind safety and only one point above Wolfsburg in the second automatic relegation spot. If they fail to beat Mainz, they risk automatic relegation, so I believe they will give their all in this big home game.

Mainz have beaten St.Pauli twice in the most recent three duels without conceding, and played a goalless draw in their first match earlier in the season.

The Betting Verdict

Mainz is unbeaten in four on the road, drawing and winning twice, but the pressure is massive on St.Pauli.

No other outcome apart from victory helps them, so this is indeed a do-or-die game for St.Pauli.

And regarding Mainz, even if they lose all their remaining three games, I am sure they will survive.

It should be a close game, where I recommend taking St.Pauli to win.
