Monday 4th May 2026 - Kick Off 8pm
This game is live on TV
Everton
Late goals over the last two weekends have had a serious impact on Everton's European hopes with both against Liverpool and West Ham United turning draws into defeats in injury time. David Moyes will be looking for his players to bounce back with European Football still within grasp for Everton, but this is a big test for them.
They will be returning to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the late kick off on Monday evening and Everton come into the weekend in 11th place in the Premier League standings and just 3 points behind Brighton in the top six. Of course, games are running down and The Toffees have to improve the 6-4-7 record in front of the home fans.
Everton have won 1 of the last 5 Premier League games, while they have been beaten in 3 of those fixtures and all after conceding goals in the 89th minute or later. The side had won back to back Premier League fixtures at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but Everton's run was ended in the Merseyside derby here and they have lost 3 of the last 5 League fixtures in the new home Stadium.
Beto is expected to be available for the home team.
Manchester City
Pep Guardiola has taken Manchester City through to another FA Cup Final and they will be favourites to complete the domestic Cup double, but the manager is still keen for more. They have a narrow advantage in the Premier League title race, but Arsenal are keeping the pressure on and Manchester City are back to playing catch up.
Goal difference could be a huge factor, but winning games matters more than anything and Manchester City are 2nd in the Premier League table and 3 points behind Arsenal, albeit after playing a game fewer. The Gunners go out first this weekend and so that gap could be 6 points at kick off on Monday evening and that will put pressure on Manchester City to improve the 9-4-4 away record.
Manchester City came from behind to beat Southampton in the FA Cup Semi Final last weekend and they have won 6 in a row in all competitions. The side have won 4 of the last 5 away Premier League games and Manchester City have kept 3 clean sheets in that time.
Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and Rodri are all doubts for this fixture.
Head to Head
Two second half goals helped Manchester City to a 2-0 win over Everton earlier this season.
Pep Guardiola saw his team battered 4-0 at Goodison Park the first time he took Manchester City to that ground, but they did win the last 9 visits ahead of the first trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Prediction
If Arsenal do the job on Saturday, there is going to be significant pressure on Manchester City on Monday evening in what looks like one of the more awkward fixtures remaining on the schedule.
They will have noted how much Arsenal and Liverpool had to dig in to get the better of Everton and this game means plenty to David Moyes and his players.
Getting back into European Football would be a big achievement for the club, and also offers a financial boost, while Moyes' experiences with West Ham United cannot be ignored.
With that in mind, a win means as much to Everton as it does to Premier League title chasing Manchester City.
6 wins in a row have given Manchester City real momentum to complete a second domestic treble, but they will know that they cannot afford another complacent attacking effort as they have provided against Burnley and Southampton. Both games were won, but they were nervier than they should have been and the pressure ramps up at this stage of the season when draws feel like defeats.
Manchester City have won 4 of the last 5 away from home in the Premier League and they are basing their successes on strong defensive performances.
They will be tested by Everton from set pieces and there is some quality in the final third, but Manchester City have to be confident in finding a way.
Nothing will come easy and especially not if Arsenal have beaten Fulham on Saturday.
However, Manchester City may have just enough to find a way against an Everton team that have lost focus late in matches over the last several weeks. Prior to the move to Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton had really struggled to cope with Manchester City at home and that may be the case on Monday in another tight away win.
