Nürnberg is perfectly safe at 2.Bundesliga mid-table. They went unbeaten in their last three games, drawing twice.

This was not a good season overall for Nürnberg, but finishing in the upper half of the table would be a prize, given how poorly they performed in the opening few months of this season.

Schalke 04

Schalke 04 won the 2.Bundesliga last week, and I can’t wait to see how they do next season in the German Bundesliga.

They were by far the best and most consistent team in the second division. The Royal Blues have a great blend of young and experienced players, and rolled over most of their opponents this season.

Last week’s 2-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf was their fifth straight 2.Bundesliga victory.

Schalke 04 also played pretty well on the road recently, going unbeaten in five away games (3 wins, 2 draws).

Here’s a thing to note – Nürnberg and Schalke 04 have a long-standing friendly club relationship. Both sides’ ultras fan groups are also friendly and connected, so this will likely be a celebratory game all around.
