Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner still believes his Crystal Palace need a couple more points to secure their place in the Premier League, although most fans will be pretty happy with the current position in relation to the relegation dogfight. This may be the manager's way of getting his team to remain focused and not think ahead to the huge Conference League Final to be played later in the month.

He may be departing in the summer, but Oliver Glasner will long be remembered by the Crystal Palace faithful having guided the team to the FA Cup success last year and backing it up with the Conference League run. Oliver Glasner himself may only be satisfied if he helps Crystal Palace win the trophy and earn a spot in the Europa League for next season, but this weekend The Eagles are looking to improve the 4-8-5 home record in the top flight.

Crystal Palace have beaten Shakhtar Donetsk twice in the Conference League Semi Final, but around those results is a run of 3 straight Premier League games without a victory and consecutive League defeats. Both of those defeats have been away from home and Crystal Palace are actually unbeaten in 8 at home in all competitions and have won 5 of those fixtures.

Borna Sosa, Cheick Doucoure and Evan Guessand are all doubts. There are likely going to be one or two changes for this fixture to just freshen up the starting eleven.

Everton

His team may have done a big favour for a former player, but David Moyes will not have been overly pleased with the 3-3 draw against Manchester City last Monday. It is yet another recent game in which Everton have conceded in injury time and the side have dropped 4 points from those three League matches, which has dented European ambitions.

The point earned on Monday means Everton are 10th in the Premier League table and 4 points behind 6th placed Bournemouth, but momentum is not really with the team. The Toffees have a 7-4-6 away record and they will need to win out if Everton are going to be rewarded with a place in any of the three UEFA competitions played.

Everton have now won 1 of the last 6 games in all competitions and they have suffered defeat in half of those fixtures with all being decided by winning goals scored in the 89th minute or later. They have not won any of the last 3 away League games and suffered a couple of defeats in that time, while all featured late goals both in for and against Everton.

Idrissa Gueye is set to miss this fixture, while Thierno Barry scored twice on Monday and will be pushing for a start.

Head to Head

Everton came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium earlier this season.

They are unbeaten in 4 visits to Selhurst Park and Everton have won twice in that time.

Prediction

Aston Villa's run in the Europa League and current position in the Premier League is perhaps going to open up 6th place for Champions League Football and all Evertonians are going to be hugely disappointed with the dropped points of recent weeks.

Injury time goals have cost Everton 4 points from the last three Premier League games played and that is the gap between them and 6th placed Bournemouth with three League games left to play.

David Moyes will be so disappointed that those late losses of concentration have proven to be so costly and Everton will be tested by this Crystal Palace team who have secured a spot in the Conference League Final.

Two wins over Shakhtar Donetsk pushed Crystal Palace through the Semi Final Round and Oliver Glasner and the fans are all signing from the same hymn sheet.

The manager has challenged his players to secure Premier League status as soon as this weekend and one more win will be enough mathematically. He may pick a strong team to try and chase that victory, although one with some fresh faces involved, but you do have to wonder how much energy Crystal Palace will have after securing that spot in the Conference League Final.

Last weekend they were pretty poor at the Vitality Stadium, but the home support has been a huge boost for Crystal Palace and that should be the case on Sunday with everyone celebrating the Thursday result.

The late goals being conceded by Everton will be a concern considering that is how Crystal Palace beat Newcastle United here last month, but The Toffees are unbeaten in 4 here.

A point might not be the most satisfactory result, especially as far as Everton are concerned, but these teams are well matched and it could be that a late goal forces them to share the spoils on the day.
