If the unthinkable happens and Tottenham Hotspur are relegated, the decision to appoint Igor Tudor is going to be the one that many believe cost the club the position in the Premier League. At the time it felt a deal could not be done with Roberto De Zerbi, but the Spurs board have managed to make that happen since dispensing with Tudor and the recent results have dragged the club out of the bottom three.

Daniel Farke's team produced another big performance at Elland Road last weekend to beat Burnley and Leeds United are almost mathematically safe from relegation.

Ahead of this weekend, Leeds United are 14th in the Premier League table and they are 7 points clear of West Ham United- a defeat for The Hammers on Sunday would have confirmed safety before this Monday kick off. The side will still want a strong conclusion to the campaign and they have a 2-8-7 away record with the final two League fixtures on their travels being at Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

Leeds United are unbeaten in 6 Premier League games ahead of this weekend and they have won 3 of the last 4 in the top flight. Since conceding two goals in injury time to lose 4-3 at Newcastle United, Leeds United are unbeaten in 9 away games in all competitions.

Ilia Gruev and Gabriel Gudmundsson are both potentially out for the remainder of the campaign- the latter will be keen to return, but also is expected to be involved in the Sweden World Cup squad and so may not want to be risked if not at 100%.

Leeds United were beaten 1-2 by Tottenham Hotspur back in October.

Prediction

There is a similar feeling around this fixture as the one taking place at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Much like the pressure on Arsenal is going to depend on how Manchester City get on in their own Premier League fixture, Tottenham Hotspur fans will be tuning into that match hosted by West Ham United knowing it is going to have a huge impact as to how players feel during this fixture.

In previous years Tottenham Hotspur fans would have been desperate for a West Ham United win to dent Arsenal's title challenge, but any positive result for The Hammers will hurt Spurs and their own ambitions of avoiding relegation.

A win for West Ham United would put a whole heap of pressure on the Tottenham Hotspur squad knowing this looks the 'easiest' game left and with the team kicking off back inside the bottom three.

Regardless there will be some pressure on Spurs, but if West Ham United have been beaten, there will be a confidence around a squad that have won back to back games to win this fixture and put a 4 point gap between themselves and the relegation zone with two games remaining.

Leeds United are all but safe, but they can play with some freedom and have proven to be dangerous, which is something that has to be considered.

A 9 away game unbeaten run has to be respected and Leeds United have found a system that has kept them very dangerous in the final third. Players are performing with belief in the manager and Leeds United can counter Tottenham Hotspur.

Credit has to be given to Roberto De Zerbi who has certainly helped his team produce quality performances and results- they are definitely defending with more authority in the main and that gives Tottenham Hotspur a platform from which one of the attacking players can make the difference.

They are missing key players and so have not created glaring chances as they may have hoped and that is where Leeds United may be able to take advantage.

You do have to wonder if there is much motivation left in the Leeds United team having all but secured safety last weekend, but the feeling is that they are playing with a real positive momentum and that will be difficult for Tottenham Hotspur to contain.

Spurs do have a very good home record in recent years against Leeds United, but this is a situation they have not really dealt with. The last couple of away results will have helped the confidence, but Tottenham Hotspur face a different pressure at home and the feeling is that Leeds United may create another twist in the relegation battle by forcing a positive result.
