The American League East has seen the Tampa Bay Rays (34-16) open up a little gap to the New York Yankees after the two teams split a two game set over this past weekend.

There is no let up in the long regular season and the Tampa Bay Rays will make their way to Camden Yards to begin another set with the Baltimore Orioles (23-30) having swept them at home in a three game set last week.

Baltimore did take two of three games against the Detroit Tigers after that sweep at the hands of the Rays, but the Orioles had to play two games on Sunday. That is a potential factor after splitting those two games to take two of the three game set, although the Orioles will feel they have not had to overuse the bullpen in those games in Sunday's double-header.

Despite that, the Orioles will want to see Kyle Bradish rip through some Innings when giving the ball to a starting pitcher who has a 2-6 record and 4.13 ERA from ten starts this season.

Last week, Kyle Bradish gave up two runs in a little over 5 Innings thrown against the Tampa Bay Rays, but that meant being saddled with a fourth decision loss in his last five starts. However, that outing against the Tampa Bay Rays was on the road and Bradish will take confidence from throwing 6 Innings and keeping the New York Yankees scoreless in his last game at Camden Yards.

Kyle Bradish is 2-4 with a 5.62 ERA from eight career starts against the Tampa Bay Rays after that defeat last week. It is almost two years to the day since Bradish last pitched against this Divisional rival at home and he was roughed up for five runs without getting out of the Third Inning in June 2024, although did not factor into the final decision.

The Rays batting lineup will be facing a pitcher they saw very recently and the same applies to the Baltimore Orioles when Tampa Bay hand the ball back to Shane McClanahan.

It was the bats that helped McClanahan out last week after he allowed four runs in 5 Innings thrown against the Orioles, but the pitcher was still handed the decision win. Shane McClanahan had not given up a single run in four consecutive starts for the Rays before that outing last week and he will be looking to get back on track personally, even if there will be confidence within the team around one of the top performers in the pitching rotation.

The starter has a 5-2 record and 2.82 ERA from nine starts in 2026, but this will be a test for Shane McClanahan who has pitched with more authority at home. He does have a 7-0 record and 3.25 ERA in ten career starts against the Baltimore Orioles, while Shane McClanahan's last start at Camden Yards in May 2023 saw him hold the home team without a run in 6 Innings throw.

After the sweep last week, this is the fourth season meeting between these Divisional rivals.

Prediction

The bats may need to warm up again, but Tampa Bay should be confident they can get back to winning ways after the 2-0 defeat in New York on Sunday.

Shane McClanahan will need to just bounce back from an outing where he was knocked around a bit, but he has shown he can do that and gave help his team get the better of Kyle Bradish and the Baltimore Orioles.
