A heavy 3-1 loss to Les Bleus will have done nothing for Senegal’s confidence and although Pape Thiaw’s side had gained important and morale-boosting warm-up wins over the likes of Peru and Gambia, the Lions of Teranga have since suffered defeats at the hands of USA 3-2 and aforementioned France 3-1.

It would take a monumental effort now for Senegal to emulate their remarkable run to the quarter-finals in World Cup 2002 this time around.
