Paraguay did not make the best of starts though to their World Cup group campaign as they found themselves on the end of a heavy 4-1 loss to the co-hosts, USA, but a narrow 1-0 victory over Turkey along with a point gained in a 0-0 stalemate with Australia proved to be enough to send Los Guaranies into the knockout rounds.

However, overall form leading up to and including this World Cup has certainly been a mixed bag as Gustavo Alfaro’s side have managed to capture just three wins within their previous 10 games along with being dealt four defeats, suggesting a potentially tough encounter with Germany.
