Preview

Completing the series win over the Chicago White Sox (55-51) would serve as a reminder that the injury hit New York Yankees (61-46) still have the talent needed to finish the regular season with a flourish. Behind the scenes, the Yankees will be working on deals to strengthen the roster in preparation for a World Series push, but the players currently available are simply trying to win the American League East.

The Yankees are 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays and looking on course for a Wild Card spot, while the Chicago White Sox are leading the American League Central by 1.5 games and looking to regain some lost footing.

Davis Martin will be given the ball for the Chicago White Sox who have lost five of the last seven games to allow the likes of the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins to close in on the Divisional lead.

However, Schlittler will feel pretty good after keeping the Philadelphia Phillies scoreless into the 8th Inning in his last start as he prepares to face the White Sox for the first time this season.

Prediction

Injuries always hurt, but the New York Yankees are a team that cannot rely on excuses and credit has to be given to them for continuing to churn out the wins.

They can secure another against the Chicago White Sox with the edge they have on the starter mound and the Yankees have found enough big hits to win the opening two games of this set.
