Only one realistic route into the Playoffs remains for the Baltimore Orioles (57-61) who are competing in the American League East. The three teams above them are all looking set to compete in the post-season, although still jockeying for position, while the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are left scrambling for a Wild Card spot.

The Orioles snapped a three game losing run to earn a consolation win over the Texas Rangers on Sunday and they are now 2 games behind the Rangers who are holding the last of the Wild Card positions.

One of the teams in front of Baltimore will be hosting this series and the Minnesota Twins (58-61) will still harbour ambitions of chasing down the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central. There are 4 games between those Divisional rivals and the Twins are 1.5 games out of the Wild Card places and so will be appreciating the importance of this series beginning on Monday.

Fans of the Baltimore Orioles will have big questions around the direction the team are being taken by the management if they do win on Monday and that is mainly down to the fact that Dean Kremer will be given the ball for the Minnesota Twins.

After spending his entire Major League career as an Oriole, Dean Kremer's 1-4 record and 6.50 ERA from seven starts this season meant the team chose to change directions. Baltimore took two of three from the home series played against the Minnesota Twins in March, but were swept in this ballpark last season.

Prediction

A former pitcher taking on a batting lineup that he should know very well can be tough to deal with, but Dean Kremer has been struggling for consistency all season.

He did pitch well in his first start for the Minnesota Twins since being traded from the Baltimore Orioles, but the home team will need more of the same.

That is mainly down to the level of consistency that Trevor Rogers has been producing for the Baltimore Orioles and the starter can lay the foundation for consecutive wins for his team on Monday.
