Mainz have started the season without conceding a goal in their first two Bundesliga games. After a goalless draw with SC Paderborn, they exploded at Hamburger SV last weekend, winning 0-5 in what was the club's joint-biggest Bundesliga victory.

The away form is particularly impressive, with Mainz unbeaten on the road since February (seven straight trips).

At home, though, things have been far less convincing, with four straight Bundesliga games without a win (three defeats). That makes this a more interesting test than the standings show, especially against an Eintracht Frankfurt side that has already shown it can create problems going forward.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have had the opposite kind of start. They led Union Berlin 3-1 before conceding a stoppage-time equalizer for 3-3, then went ahead against Augsburg at home through Jonathan Burkardt before collapsing after half-time in a heavy 1-4 defeat.

Two winless games at the start plus five winless in their five last games of last season equals seven straight Bundesliga matches without a victory. Not a good sign.

There is at least some encouragement in the attacking numbers. Eintracht Frankfurt scored three in Berlin against Union and created enough in the first half against Augsburg to be in front at the break, while their 123.6 kilometers per game is the highest running figure in the Bundesliga so far.

However, the main issue is keeping that intensity and concentration for the whole match.

The Betting Verdict

Mainz deserve to be favorites after a 0-5 away win last week and keeping clean sheets in both matches so far, but their home record makes a straight win less appealing.

Eintracht Frankfurt have scored four times in their two Bundesliga matches and have already shown they can hurt teams, even if their game management has been poor.

The recent head-to-head also gives Mainz a reason for confidence: they won this fixture 2-1 in March and are unbeaten in six straight home games against Eintracht Frankfurt (two wins, four draws).
