Spanish La Liga
2026-09-19 - Sevilla vs Barcelona
A Sports Betting Preview by Gladiator
Football: Spain: La Liga - Round 7
Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán (Seville), Spain
Saturday, 19th September 2026 - Kick-Off 21:00 CEST
Sevilla
Sevilla have made an impressive start to the season and come into this heavyweight clash sitting among La Liga's leading sides. Luis García Plaza's team have collected 13 points from their opening six matches, winning four of them, and arrive on the back of consecutive 1-0 victories over Valencia and Deportivo La Coruña.
Those recent clean sheets suggest Sevilla are capable of making life difficult for Barcelona, but this is a completely different level of attacking opposition. Their home advantage should also encourage them to compete rather than simply sit deep, particularly after beating Barcelona 4-1 at the Sánchez-Pizjuán last season.
There are a couple of important absences. Lucas Stassin and Rubén Vargas are unavailable, although defender Arouna Sangante has returned to the squad.
Barcelona
Barcelona's start to the season has been extraordinary. Hansi Flick's side have won all six of their La Liga matches and already scored 28 league goals – an average of 4.67 per game.
Their recent results underline just how dangerous they have been: 5-2 against Rayo Vallecano, 5-0 at Valencia, 4-2 at Levante and 7-2 against Racing Santander. Barça were already 4-1 ahead at half-time against Racing in midweek, once again showing how quickly Flick's team can turn matches into high-scoring contests.
Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji remain unavailable, while goalkeeper Joan García is a doubt. But with Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Anthony Gordon among the attacking options, Barcelona have more than enough firepower for another fast start.
Betting Verdict
The full-match goals markets are understandably short, so there could be more value in concentrating specifically on the opening 45 minutes.
Barcelona are playing at an exceptional attacking level and have shown very little interest in gradually feeling their way into matches. Against Racing, they opened the scoring after eight minutes and had produced five first-half goals between the two teams by the interval.
Sevilla should also contribute to an open contest. They have already scored nine league goals themselves, have home advantage and showed with last season's 4-1 victory that they are capable of hurting Barcelona at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
That combination makes Over 1.5 First-Half Goals appealing at 1.73. Barcelona may be capable of covering the line themselves, while an early Sevilla goal would only make the game more open.
