In 2026, Parker Messick faced the White Sox four times and finished with a 2-1 record, but his most recent start was the 'worst' when giving up three runs in 6 Innings thrown. That was in a start made a little over three weeks ago, but Cleveland rallied for him and Messick picked up the decision win on the day.

The performance saw the Guardians win a three game series at home against the Chicago White Sox, while also snapping a three game losing run at Progressive Field against this Divisional rival thanks to consecutive wins in September.

Prediction

This looks to be a Divisional Round Series that could go the distance, but the Cleveland Guardians do believe the pitching staff can make the difference in favour of the American League Central Winners.

However, Hagen Smith and the Chicago White Sox will enter this Series filled with confidence having won both road games against the Houston Astros in the Wild Card Round.

Both Smith and Parker Messick are young pitchers who will be familiar to the batting lineups facing them, but the Guardians will have more confidence in the bullpen if they have to turn that way.

Momentum is with the White Sox thanks to the Wild Card sweep, but the Cleveland Guardians ended the regular season in fine form and that may see them open this Divisional Round Series with a victory.
