A Sports Betting Preview by Auls

Chelsea v Bournemouth
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 10th October 2026 - Kick Off 3pm

Chelsea

After an entertaining start to the season, Chelsea fans were perhaps getting a bit carried away with what the campaign may bring under new manager Xabi Alonso. The results just prior to the international break will have tempered that enthusiasm and Alonso will have been working with his staff to try and figure out how to get Chelsea back on track.

They were well beaten in the West London derby at Brentford and Chelsea dropped down to 10th in the Premier League table, while they have conceded the most goals in the top flight through five games. The Blues have a 1-1-0 record at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea have scored 6 goals and conceded 5.

Chelsea have not won any of the last 3 Premier League games played, while they had to recover from 0-2 behind to beat Leeds United 6-3 in the League Cup Third Round during that run. They had won 4 in a row at Stamford Bridge in all competitions, but Chelsea needed to fight back for a 2-2 draw with Hull City in the last fixture here.

Cole Palmer withdrew from the England squad with an injury, but he is set to be available after a three week break. The likes of Reece James, Marco Palestra and Moises Caicedo are hoping to be available, but Joao Pedro is a doubt.

Bournemouth

Marco Rose will be largely happy with the way Bournemouth's squad have responded to him taking over from Andoni Iraola, but he will also be a little frustrated that they do not have more points on the board. The club have also been unhappy with England for the way they managed an injury Alex Scott picked up, which means he will be out for a number of weeks as Bournemouth prepare for a busy run between now and the November international break.

Late goals conceded means Bournemouth are one of three Premier League clubs that have yet to win a fixture in the top flight and that means they return to action in 17th place in the early standings. The Cherries have a 0-1-1 away record in the Premier League where they have scored 3 goals and conceded 4.

Bournemouth had been unbeaten in 5 games in all competitions and had won the first ever European fixture at Real Sociedad, but the run ended when they were beaten by Andoni Iraola's new club Liverpool. The side conceded twice in losing at Manchester City on the opening weekend, but Bournemouth have since drawn at Newcastle United and won in San Sebastian.

Justin Kluivert and Amine Adli may have to wait a little longer before returning to action, while Alex Scott joins Eli Junior Kroupi in likely missing all of the games to be played before the November international break.

Head to Head

Both Premier League games between these two clubs ended in draws last season.

Chelsea are unbeaten in 4 at Stamford Bridge against Bournemouth, but each of the last 2 fixtures have ended 2-2 in this part of West London.

Prediction

The injury suffered by Alex Scott is a blow for Bournemouth, but Chelsea still look very short in the prices for this Premier League game.

In recent years, Chelsea have never had an easy time facing Bournemouth and they could be without Joao Pedro again this week. Danny Welbeck is a capable backup, but Chelsea will be more concerned with the way they have been defending and that is something that Xabi Alonso will have to improve.

Moises Caicedo could be back to offer some protection, but Bournemouth are going to be confident they can get into the final third and create problems for the hosts.

Marco Rose's team have not quite been able to get over the line and earn a Premier League victory, but Bournemouth will feel they have done enough to earn at least one from the opening couple of away League games played. They led late at Manchester City before losing 2-1, while Bournemouth threw away a 0-2 lead at Newcastle United.

Winning at Real Sociedad will have given Bournemouth a boost and they should be able to create chances at Stamford Bridge, which can lead to another positive result at this ground.

Chelsea have shown how dangerous they can be when going forward, but Hull City earned a deserved draw at Stamford Bridge in the League and Leeds United led 0-2 here in the League Cup before capitulating.

Being able to back The Cherries with a healthy start on the Asian Handicap looks pretty generous, even without Alex Scott.

Goals have to be expected at both ends, but Bournemouth may be able to do what is necessary to pick up more Premier League points.
