Lech Poznan need a response after their European opener went badly. They lost 4-0 away to Crystal Palace, leaving themselves with plenty to make up in the Europa League phase.

Their domestic form has been much better, though. They beat Slask Wroclaw 1-4 away on Saturday, with Patrik Walemark scoring twice after coming off the bench.

That result should lift their spirits before facing a strong European opponent. Lech Poznan also beat Radomiak Radom 5-1 in September before the international break, so they have shown they can score goals in Poland.

The question now is whether they can keep things tight against a team with better attacking quality.

Bayer Leverkusen have started their European campaign with a 2-0 win over NK Celje in mid-September and followed that up with two back-to-back Bundesliga wins.

They won 2-0 against RB Leipzig and achieved a thrilling 3-4 away victory against Mainz last weekend. Patrik Schick scored again, while Jarell Quansah struck late to settle the game with seven goals. Their attack looks in good shape, but conceding three times is a reminder that they can still be vulnerable at the back.

There are some important absences for this game. Christian Kofane is out for several weeks with a thigh injury, while Eliesse Ben Seghir, Guéla Doué and Montrell Culbreath are also expected to miss the trip. Those absences could limit Carles Martínez's options, both in attack and defense.

Bayer Leverkusen have some momentum going, and I believe their good run will continue on this short trip to Poland.

Lech Poznan have been scoring freely at home, but their 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace showed the gap they can face against stronger European opposition.

Bayer Leverkusen are around 1.57–1.67 to win, which is a price I can work with. Their injury list is worth keeping in mind, but they have more quality across the pitch and should create enough chances to get the job done.
