Augsburg is a team that can score against anyone, but they need to stop making life difficult for themselves. They have scored 16 goals in six Bundesliga matches, including twice against Bayern Munich in a 2-2 draw.

Last weekend, though, Augsburg lost 4-3 away to SV Elversberg, extending their winless run to four matches (two draws, two defeats).

The attacking numbers give Manuel Baum's side a clear advantage in this matchup. Augsburg have scored more than three times as many league goals as Union Berlin, and they return to the WWK Arena, where they have yet to lose in the Bundesliga this season (one win and two draws).

The concern is at the other end: 12 goals conceded in six Bundesliga matches shows that they still give opponents chances.

However, Union Berlin is a horrible defensive side, having conceded 17 goals in 6 games (7 came from Bayern Munich), the worst defensive record in the Bundesliga right now.

Union Berlin have shown signs of improvement in their last two matches, so I would not dismiss them completely. However, their overall record leaves little room for error, and they will need a much more disciplined defensive display to take something from Augsburg.

The Betting Verdict

I favor FC Augsburg to win. Their attacking record stands out, and Union Berlin have conceded far too many goals for me to back them away from home. Augsburg's own defense is far from reliable, but I still see them as the more likely winners.

My pick is FC Augsburg to win at odds around 1.83. The price is good given the gap in their scoring records and Union Berlin's defensive problems. Augsburg need to be sharper than they were at SV Elversberg last week, but I expect them to make home advantage count.
