2026-10-24 - Coventry City vs Fulham
A Sports Betting Preview by Auls
Football: English Premier League
Saturday 24th October 2026 - Kick Off 3pm
Coventry City
Frank Lampard will have felt a little disappointed that his team failed to pick up a positive result on Monday night in North London, especially considering the overall game and after Coventry City had rattled the home team with an equaliser. There was still enough to like from the Coventry City performance, but Lampard will know it is important to pick up points when his team feel they deserve to have done so.
Despite the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City are still 17th in the Premier League table and a point clear of the relegation zone and this time they will not be playing in the last fixture of the weekend. The Sky Blues return home where they have a 1-0-2 record in the Premier League having scored 4 goals and conceded 7.
Coventry City certainly travelled to North London in confident mood having won consecutive Premier League games, but that run was ended in the 3-1 defeat on Monday. They had lost all 3 games played at the CBS Arena, but Coventry City emphatically ended that sequence by thumping Newcastle United 4-1 here a couple of weeks ago.
The squad that was available in the last fixture is set to be used again.
Fulham
Wasteful displays in the final third have cost Fulham some important points already this season and Alvaro Arbeloa must have been concerned that he was about to see more of the same as they failed to finish off Hull City at Craven Cottage last Saturday. Fortunately for the under pressure manager, Fulham deservedly held on for three points and Arbeloa will be hoping that begins a run of positive form for his team.
They were able to move up into 18th place thanks to the three points earned and Fulham more than double the season total up to 5 points secured. The side travel to the West Midlands with a 0-1-2 away record having scored 1 goal and conceded 3 in those matches played.
Fulham have only lost 1 of the last 5 games played in all competitions, although that was a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Portman Road on the return from the international break. They had led 0-1 with the second half ticking down before conceding two late goals and it is a result that means Fulham have failed to win any of the last 8 away Premier League games.
Ryan Sessegnon was sent off last weekend and begins a suspension.
Head to Head
Coventry City and Fulham last met in the 2021/22 Championship season and it was The Sky Blues who won both fixtures.
Coventry City thumped Fulham 4-1 at the CBS Arena in October 2021 and they have won 5 of the last 7 when hosting this opponent.
Prediction
A match between the 17th and 18th placed teams in the Premier League would mean a lot more if played in March compared with October, but both Coventry City and Fulham appreciate the importance of this fixture.
The main ambition is for the team to pick up momentum and the winner of this one will certainly go into the next two League matches before the November international break with a real spring in the step.
Recent form will look pretty impressive for the winner and Frank Lampard and Alvaro Arbeloa will want to see their respective teams get on the front foot and pressure the other.
Coventry City have shown a bit of life in the final third in recent outings, although they are still a work in progress at the back. That is something Fulham can look to exploit, even if Alvaro Arbeloa will recognise that his team need to show a bit more defensive resilience alongside better composure in the final third.
It is expected to be wet at the CBS Arena, but the stormy conditions should have moved through the area, which will help the players produce a decent game of football.
An early goal could spark the game and both Coventry City and Fulham will believe they can hurt the other, which should lead to an attacking fixture.
Both teams scoring would not be a big surprise and the 1-1 scoreline is the one that concerns the most when picking at least three goals to be shared out.
However, the expectation is that neither will settle for a draw too early and there is enough quality in the final third at both ends of the pitch to lead to a game that has at least three goals shared out.
