Schalke 04 have struggled to make an impact so far, especially at home. They have scored just 4 Bundesliga goals in 7 league games and haven't found the net in any of their three home matches. Two ended 0-0, and they lost 0-1 to Mainz. They have never before gone three straight home games without scoring.

Schalke 04's latest Bundesliga outing was another goalless draw, away to Köln. Schalke 04 then lost 2-0 away to Dynamo Dresden in the cup, extending their winless run. Coach Miron Muslic needs more from his attack, especially against a side with RB Leipzig's quality.

Schalke 04 do have a solid defensive record at home, having conceded just once in three matches. However, they will need to offer more going forward if they are to trouble the visitors.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig arrive in better form after a 4-0 win over SV Elversberg last weekend. They have scored 20 goals in seven Bundesliga matches and sit fifth with 12 points. Their attack has been productive, but their away performances have been far less convincing than at home.

Incredibly, RB Leipzig have lost all three Bundesliga away games so far, conceding 11 goals. They did, however, beat Rot-Weiss Essen 1-2 away in the cup during the week.

Christopher Nkunku is among the players to watch, with four Bundesliga goals so far this season.

The Betting Verdict

A very interesting duel between a side that has yet to score at home this season and a side that has lost all three away games!

Still, RB Leipzig have the stronger squad, and I think they have a good chance of recording their first away win of the season.

With 20 goals in seven matches, RB Leipzig have enough attacking quality to create chances and take all three points at decent odds.

Schalke are sitting 16th, haven’t won at home this season, and have a record of 0-2-1 in front of their own supporters. They’re being priced as rank outsiders against an RB Leipzig side sitting fifth in the table.

Fair enough? Perhaps. But perhaps not.

Leipzig have been very much a home team in the Bundesliga this season. They’ve won all four of their home games, with an extraordinary goal difference of 18-0.

Away from home, however, they’ve lost all three of their league games, with an aggregate score of 2-11.

Their European form follows a similar pattern. Leipzig have won at home in the Champions League, beating PSV Eindhoven 1-0, but suffered a pair of 1-4 away defeats against Como and Real Madrid.

So, how do you feel about backing Leipzig on the road?

Schalke’s lack of goals is a concern, which is why I’m not going to get carried away and back them outright. Instead, I’ll take the double chance, which pays out if Schalke win or draw.
