They have spent more than a decade in the second tier of English Football since being relegated from the Premier League and Queens Park Rangers fans have become accustomed to seeing their club fighting to avoid dropping into League One. Queens Park Rangers had a mixed October with heavy away defeats at Birmingham City and Southampton alongside home wins over Derby County and Swansea City. They have scored twice in each of the last 3 home League games since the 0-1 defeat to Middlesbrough and QPR are chasing a third straight success in this part of West London.

Burnley

They have become a yo-yo club between the top flight and the Championship and Burnley were relegated for the third time in five seasons from the Premier League last season. Each of those previous two relegations have been followed by promotion under Vincent Kompany and Scott Parker, but Burnley's board decision this past summer looks like preventing another successful return to the top flight.

The Championship is a marathon, not a sprint, but Nicky Hayen has been sacked as manager and replaced by Fabio Celestini after a poor start to the season. It is a start that means Burnley are 22nd in the standings and 2 points behind the positions of safety, while they make the long trip down to the capital with a 1-1-4 away record having scored 9 goals and conceded 15 in those matches.

Burnley had lost consecutive League matches against Wolves and Lincoln City, which cost Hayen his job, but the opening game under the new manager ended in a goalless draw with Portsmouth at Turf Moor. They had returned from the last international break with a big win at Watford, but Burnley have been well beaten at Swansea City and Lincoln City around that victory at Vicarage Road.

Two seasons ago, Burnley took four points from Queens Park Rangers in the Championship and the majority of those points were earned in a 0-5 win at this ground.

Prediction

You have to believe a new manager will be able to pick up the Burnley squad that was supposed to be challenging for a return to the Premier League and not sitting in the bottom three with more than a quarter of the season played.

They were the better team on Saturday in the goalless draw with Portsmouth, but Burnley are lacking a bit of confidence and now travel to an opponent who have been playing with a lot of belief.

A heavy defeat at St Mary's will have knocked the confidence, but Queens Park Rangers have been a different prospect at Loftus Road and that has to be respected.

On Sunday, Queens Park Rangers had been an odds against home favourite, but that price has shrunk.

However, they still look the best play from the latest round of Championship fixtures and Julien Stephen's men can earn the three points in front of the home supporters.
