Hertha Berlin have been outstanding this season. They are the 2.Bundesliga leaders with 28 points from 10 matches, winning nine and drawing only once. Their latest result was a convincing 0-3 away victory over Kaiserslautern, while they have also won all four of their home league matches.

The numbers are impressive. Hertha Berlin have scored 23 goals and conceded only eight, giving them one of the best records in the 2.Bundesliga at both ends. Fabian Reese has been a major contributor, while Josip Brekalo adds quality and creativity in the final third.

Stefan Leitl's side also have a useful boost with Gustaf Nilsson and Márton Dárdai returning to team training after injury problems. Hertha Berlin have looked difficult to stop lately, but this is arguably their toughest home test of the season so far.

Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are third with 19 points and have also put together a strong 2.Bundesliga campaign. They are unbeaten in their last five matches, although two of those ended in draws. Their latest league result was a 2-0 home win over Osnabrück, and before that, they lost 3-2 away to SC Freiburg in the DFB Cup.

Wolfsburg have scored 25 goals in 10 league matches, even more than Hertha Berlin, but their defensive record is less convincing. They have conceded 14 times and can leave spaces at the back when pushing forward. That could be a problem against a Hertha Berlin side that has been so effective in attack.

Fabian Reese will also face his former club, while Josip Brekalo knows Wolfsburg well from his time there. The visitors can make this a competitive game, and their recent results suggest they should not be underestimated.

The Betting Verdict

This is a much tougher call than the 2.Bundesliga positions might suggest. Hertha Berlin have been perfect at home and deserve to be favorites, but Wolfsburg are also scoring freely and have enough quality to cause problems. I expect both teams to attack, with chances at either end.

The price is appealing, and I can see this becoming an open game rather than a cautious battle between two Bundesliga promotion contenders.
