2026-11-07 - Mainz vs Bayern Munich

A Sports Betting Preview by Niko

Mainz v Bayern Munich
Football; Germany: Bundesliga
MEWA Arena – Mainz
Saturday, 07th November 2026 - kickoff 15:30 CET

Mainz

Mainz are going through a difficult spell. They have lost their last three competitive matches, including a heavy 4-1 defeat away to SV Elversberg last Friday. Urs Fischer's side also lost 2-3 at home to Werder Bremen and went out of the DFB Pokal after a 2-0 defeat away to VfL Bochum.

Their home record is particularly worrying. Mainz have collected just one point from four Bundesliga matches at their MEWA Arena, losing their last three home games. Mainz have scored regularly enough overall, with Phillip Tietz leading their attack on five Bundesliga goals, but defensive mistakes keep costing them.

There are also some important absences. Phillipp Mwene and Stefan Posch are suspended, while Dominik Kohr and Silas Katompa Mvumpa are unavailable through injury. Losing Posch and Mwene at the same time is far from ideal against Bayern Munich's attacking options.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga and have collected 18 points from their first eight games. They drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker last week, but responded with a convincing 0-2 away win against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer scored in an excellent team performance.

Vincent Kompany's side have already scored a whopping 27 Bundesliga goals, with Michael Olise, Harry Kane and Luis Díaz among their main contributors. Their three Bundesliga draws mean they have dropped points more often than during the entire first half of last season, but there is little sign of a major problem. The Bavarians continue to create chances and control games.

Bayern Munich do have several players missing. Luis Díaz, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry and Ismael Saibari are among the unavailable options, while Michael Olise and Manuel Neuer have been monitored after recent fitness concerns. Assistant coach Aaron Danks has been leading the team during Kompany's absence.

The Betting Verdict

Mainz have caused Bayern Munich problems at home before, surprisingly winning four of their previous six home meetings. That is worth remembering, but the current situation looks quite different.

Mainz have taken just one point at home this season and are missing two important defensive players. Bayern Munich arrive full of confidence after their win in Madrid, and I expect them to have too much quality.

I like Bayern Munich to Win & Both Teams to Score at around 2.10. Mainz have enough attacking threat to make things interesting, but their defensive problems are hard to ignore. Bayern Munich will likely dominate again, score two or more goals, and collect three points.
